HC Dunărea Brăila is the handball club that represents Brăila at the national level, with a history that begins in the 1970s, with the formation of a women's handball team within the CCH compound.
The current club was officially founded in 1997, and since 2005 it has been constantly active in the National League, becoming a landmark of Romanian handball. Over time, it has carried Brăila on the European stage, with over 9 international participations in the EHF, Challenge Cup and Cup Winners' Cup competitions.

🔹 EHF European League – Final Four (2023/2024)
Dunărea Brăila was among the top 4 teams in Europe! We defeated 6 strong opponents and reached the Final Four, after a spectacular and intense journey, ending dramatically in a penalty shootout.
🔹 Youth Team – National Champion
Perfect season for the youth team! Undefeated in the group stage with 13 wins and 1 draw, Dunărea Brăila claimed the title of National Champion, showcasing the club's value and future strategy.
🔹 Romanian Cup – Silver Medal (2023/2024)
A historic final played at home in front of our fans! Brăila secured silver in the Romanian Cup, confirming its rise in Romanian handball. Electrifying atmosphere, spectacular matches, unforgettable performance.
🔹 Romanian Supercup – Bronze Medal
In August 2024, Dunărea Brăila defeated the runner-up Rapid București and claimed the bronze medal in the Supercup, reaffirming its status as a top team.
🔹 EHF European League – Quarter Finals (2024/2025)
A brave new European season! We were just one goal away from another Final Four qualification, in a memorable double-leg against the favorites.
🔹 YOUTH TEAM, NATIONAL CHAMPION for the 2ND CONSECUTIVE YEAR
The title was achieved without any defeat in the two seasons. The performance is a source of pride and a possible record that will be difficult to match.
Objectives achieved:
- 6 players promoted to the senior team.
- 3 players signed contracts with teams in the National League.

For the 3rd season in a row we win a medal in the Romanian Cup, this time in Giulești, with the Rapid Bucharest team.

For the 2nd year in a row, we were present in the Final Four of the Romanian Super Cup, again we won the bronze medal.

"Handball for all” is an initiative that unites the club, the community, the authorities and sponsors, offering real chances for young athletes and actively contributing to the future of Romanian handball.

For three seasons we have been the only team in Romania to broadcast all matches, home and away, on the official YouTube channel. We promote handball, provide visibility to sponsors, and respect fans, families, and players, while ensuring transparency. In addition to live broadcasts, we also produce innovative podcasts that bring the community closer to the team.
A major step was the payment of 35% of the value of the club's customized coach, the rest to be covered over the next 3 years through leasing.

THE RECOVERY CABINET
In order for the fight on the field to continue, we take care of those who carry it out. The club has invested with soul and vision almost 500,000 lei in a modern recovery space — a sanctuary of recovery and resistance. Cryosauna, TEKAR technology, massage beds — all designed so that each player can come back stronger, day after day. Because performance begins with care, and care means love for this sport.
TEAM LOCKER ROOM
This is where it all begins. In this space of silence, of motivation, of connection between colleagues, between souls. We invested more than resources in the locker room – we invested in condition, in spirit, in belonging. Every detail matters: from the new, ergonomically designed furniture, to the warm and personalized lighting, to the briefing and recovery space. It's not just a place where girls change. It's a place where they become a team. We created a space that inspires respect, trust and the desire to give everything on the field. Because a strong team needs its own home. And our locker room has become that place.
HANDBALL HALL
Another significant step in the development of the infrastructure of Dunărea Brăila Club was the renovation of the handball hall and the conference room, both of which have a direct impact on the team's daily activity, but also on the club's image. The handball hall has undergone modernization works, which included improving the comfort conditions for the athletes. These investments were essential to ensure an optimal training environment, allowing the players to train in top conditions and maximize their performances in competitions.
CONFERENCE ROOM
The conference room, a vital space for official meetings, press conferences and sponsored events, has been completely renovated to provide a professional and comfortable setting. An important aspect of this room is its use for video analysis prior to each match.
GYM
This is where the strength behind every success is built. We renovated and equipped the gym so that the team has everything they need. It is the place where discipline, resilience and self-confidence are born. Because performance begins with the quiet, everyday work.
SAUNA
After intense effort, it's time to take a breather. The sauna becomes the place where the body recovers and the mind calms down. An investment in recovery, but also in balance. Because victory is also prepared in the silence between training sessions.
MEDICAL CABINET
This is where the process of recovery and restoration begins with care and professionalism. We have created a safe, clean and fully equipped space, where every accident receives a quick and attentive response. Every bandage, every check, every intervention is part of an invisible chain of performance. Because beyond training and matches, health remains our first victory. It is the place where pain is treated with hope, and athletes rise again.

A travel partner for every trip, close and reliable. Our minibus offers comfort and safety for the team on every trip. It is the means that brings us together, wherever the match is. Because every kilometer counts on the road to performance.
FOOD & FAN ZONE
The Food Zone is a modern and friendly space where supporters, the team and partners meet to socialize and relax during matches and events. It is a social space, with tables and serving areas, accessible during matches and club events, with two monitors where the club's partners are permanently displayed. It is the right setting for interaction between supporters, the team and sponsors.
The Danubius Multipurpose Hall (capacity ~2200 seats) is part of the same complex and offers facilities such as locker rooms, a medical cabinet, conference rooms, protocol areas and recreation spaces. The club also operates an official store, both physical and online, launched in 2020, where supporters can find a wide range of official products: match and replica jerseys (with personalized name and number), balls, mugs, key chains, pens, scarves, car air fresheners and more.
The club’s objective is to make these products accessible to all supporters, so that the handball hall becomes as “blue” as possible, transforming each match into a visual and emotional spectacle of the community.

For the 2025/2026 competitive season, HC Dunărea Brăila aims to accelerate the growth and consolidation process, targeting both elite sporting performance and sustainable club development. Our strategy is built around four fundamental pillars:
LOT CONSOLIDATION
We aim to consolidate a strong team, capable of climbing the podium of the National Championship. We will invest in strategic transfers and in the growth of young talents, in order to build a united and competitive team, ready to win every match and fight for national trophies. Our ambition is to form a team that will constantly fight for the top positions, both on the domestic stage and in international competitions.
QUALIFICATION IN THE EHF EUROPEAN LEAGUE
One of the main objectives of the 2025/2026 season is to qualify for the EHF European League. We also want to continue to be present among the top 4 teams in the championship and not miss the Final Four of the Romanian Cup.
BUILDING THE TALENT BASE IN BRĂILA
To ensure long-term performance sustainability, we invest in creating a solid selection base at the local level.
This objective aims to identify young talents from Brăila County by organizing competitions and selections at school and community level.
Developing a pyramid structure for children and juniors, which includes initiating children in handball, training juniors through structured sessions, preparing them for performance, and creating a Dunărea Brăila handball academy.
HOLDING THE INTER-COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP “HANDBAL FOR ALL”
With your support, we aim to train the next generation of talents. Through this initiation championship, the girls will acquire competitive spirit and the desire to excel. Under this guidance, the approximately 400 children will learn to appreciate sports, and among them, a few will demonstrate the qualities needed to become high-performance athletes.
